After School Programs

 

Lake Trail Community School Students – Programs are free for Lake Trail students.

Grade 6 through 9 youth from other schools are welcome in some programs, dependent on space. 

Community Youth Programs – We are offering a few after school programs for younger community youth. There is a small fee for participants, with bursaries available if cost is a barrier.

Spring 2022 Programs!

Our after school programs are being offered this Spring. We are so pleased to offer the support and relationship building which so many youth need at this time. 

LTCES continues to follow Provincial COVID-19 Communicable Disease Guidelines for K-12 Settings as well as local school guidelines and protocols. We thank our participants and families in helping to keep our programs safe by following guidelines as outlined in our registration process. 

Outdoor Education

Grades 6 & 7

Six week series running
Tuesdays: April 26 - May 31

3:15 pm - 4:45 pm

Spring is here and there are so many exciting surprises to be found in the forest! In Outdoor Education, youth participants build connections with the natural spaces surrounding the school, and explore their relationship with themselves and fellow forest explorers.

Facilitated by Hand in Hand Nature Educator, Sofi Czich.

This program is only available to Lake Trail Community School students at this time.

Listen to Your Art

Grades 3 to 5 - All community youth

Five sessions, running Wednesdays:
April 27 - May 25

3:30 pm - 4:45 pm

Cost: $25 for five sessions


Students will create exciting works of art using a variety of methods, while also trying out some fun dance and theatre games. 

Participants will be encouraged to use art as a means of self expression!

Facilitated by Anne-Frederique Bechard. Anne has hosted summer camps and taught many dance classes in the past. She is passionate about sharing her love for the arts, culture and the environment.

Family Dinner Cooking Club *FULL*

Grades 6 to 9

Five week series running Wednesdays:
May 11- June 8

3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

This program teaches basic cooking skills and brings home dinner for the family! Students will learn the basics of working in a professional kitchen, and cooking from scratch.

Facilitated by Ryan Hrynchuk, Behavioral Support EA at Lake Trail.

Aeronautics *FULL*

Grades 6 to 9

Six week series running Wednesdays
April 27 - June 1

3:20 pm - 4:40 pm

In this academic based, hands-on program, students will investigate and test performance variables affecting the flight of rockets (pneumatic projectiles). They will conduct a series of trials. Students will use the design process to construct their own projectiles, which will be launched, with the intent of crossing the distance of the entire field..
